Birthday Parties at Sweetbriar

We can only accommodate small, simple children’s Birthday parties with less than 30 people total in the house at Sweetbriar. We do not have catering or party assistants for our parties. Food choices and activities after the program are up to you. Please read about your options below.

For the Nature Lover in the Family
Spend three quarters of an hour with live reptiles, mammals, birds, and more. Give your child a fun filled learning experience.
Program: Sweetbriar will present an exciting 45 minute educational program in a predesignated area at the Nature Center. The program is always participatory and children get a chance to interact directly with some of the animals they meet.
Cost: $350 minimum for up to 15 children. $10/child for each additional child up to a maximum of 25. Birthday child is counted as a child at the party. Sweetbriar Members get a $50 discount. Gratuities are not included.

Sweetbriar reserves the right to end the program if the health and safety of any participant or animal are at risk, or if the party is disrupting the enjoyment of the center for visitors. We will ask you or your child what animals they enjoy to cater the program to them but we can not have them choose every animal.
Available Programs to choose from:
Animal Interviews (Recommended for children ages 3 and up) Children will meet and interact with animals from each group of land animals with backbones, including an irresistible mammal, a funny bird, a friendly turtle, and a slithering snake.
Threatened Wildlife(Recommended for children ages 7 and up)Children will learn more about the reasons why animals are threatened, meet some threatened animals, and tour a table full of things made from endangered wildlife.
Creepy Crawlies (May to September only) (Recommended for children ages 5 and up) Insects and their relatives are everywhere. Children will meet live creepy crawlies, find out what makes an insect an insect, and go on a bug safari a to find out about these weird and wonderful living things. $50 additional (includes entry to butterfly house for 20ch and 10ad)
Rainforest Ramble(Recommended for children ages 3 and up)Children will meet some of the amazing animals of the rain forest and tour our mock rain forest to learn more about these wondrous places (late fall, winter, and early spring are preferable. $35 additional for 20ch and 10ad (must be adult supervised)
Party Guidelines

Parents/guardians are responsible for:
Helping educators manage the children during the program and remaining completely in charge during the party.
Supporting our efforts to keep the number of adults in the program room to a minimum so the children can have a more intimate experience with the animals
Leaving no child unattended. We are open to the public and there are live animals through out the house and property.
Cleaning up party area including bringing trash bags to dumpster
Limited number of adults in program area due to safety regulations
Since we are an environmental center and try to model environmentally friendly practices we ask that you use as few disposables as possible.

There is also an option now to use our barn for your party. The party includes a 40 minute animal presentation and 3 hours of time. This is ideal if you have over 30 people attending. We can not accommodate more than 50 people in the barn area. Food and decor are not supplied. Prices start at $600, with every additional hour costing $200 please contact us for more information.
