Birthday Parties

Spend three quarters of an hour with live reptiles, mammals, birds, and more. Give your child a fun filled learning experience.

Program: Sweetbriar will present an exciting 45 minute educational program in a pre designated area at the Nature Center.  The program is always participatory and children get a chance to interact directly with some of the animals they meet. 

Cost: $225 minimum for up to 15 children.  $10/child for each additional child up to a maximum of 25. Families must be members in order to hold a birthday party ($35 for a family membership)  Gratuities are not included.

Available Programs to choose from:

Animal Interviews (Recommended for children ages 3 and up) Children will meet and interact with animals from each group of land animals with backbones, including an irresistible mammal, a funny bird, a friendly turtle, and a slithering snake. Threatened Wildlife (Recommended for children ages 7 and up) Children will learn more about the reasons why animals are threatened, meet some threatened animals, and tour a table full of things made from endangered wildlife. Creepy Crawlies (May to September only) (Recommended for children ages 5 and up) Insects and their relatives are everywhere.  Children will meet live creepy crawlies, find out what makes an insect an insect, and go on a bug safari a to find out about these weird and wonderful living things. A visit to the Butterfly House is included. (All adults must pay the entrance fees to enter the Butterfly House.)

Reptiles (Recommended for children ages 5 and up) Children will meet and interact with members from most of the groups of reptiles, including three kinds of turtles, lizards, and a snake. Rainforest Ramble (Recommended for children ages 3 and up) Children will meet some of the amazing animals of the rain forest and tour our mock rain forest to learn more about these wondrous places (late fall, winter, and early spring are preferable.)

Party Guidelines
(Please call to review the guidelines with one of the birthday coordinators.)

Parents/guardians are responsible for:

• Helping educators manage the children during the program and remaining completely in charge during the party.
• Supporting our efforts to keep the number of adults in the program room to a minimum so the children can have a more intimate experience with the animals
• Leaving no child unattended.  We are open to the public and there are live animals through out the house and property.
• Cleaning up party area including bringing trash bags to dumpster
• Limited number of adults in program area due to safety regulations

Since we are an environmental center and try to model environmentally friendly practices we ask that you use as few disposables as possible.
