Summer Discovery Weeks

Start planning your summer now. Sweetbriar will once again be holding its exciting nature summer camps from early July through the end of August. Each camp runs for one week and each child must be registered for the entire week. There are four different theme camps for 5 to 11 year olds. Children will learn through hands-on activities, stories, games, encounters with our resident animals, walks on our beautiful preserve, and much more.

Ages: 5-11
Fee: $245/week for members, $280/week for non-members for all except "Adventures on the Wildside"

Field Trips may be part of the week for an additional charge.

9am to 3pm daily (Aftercare available for $20/day until 5pm), Discount for early registration up to May 1st

Earth Investigators (July 1-5 & August 5-9) – Children will become a different natural scientist each day from a botanist to a paleontologist to a zoologist (The possibilities are endless) as they learn about the wonders of the natural world. 

Adventures on the Wildside (July 15-19 and August 19-23) – Through combining wondrous experiences on our nature preserve and beyond with our wildlife and a dash of arts children will learn all about a natural science theme such as birds, native Americans, or rain forests.
Fee: $250/week for members, $285/week for non-members;

Amazing Animals I (July 22-26 & August 12-16) – Children will learn about a different group of animals each day including amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.

Amazing Animals II (August 26-30).  Unlike Amazing Animals I, Children will go into more depth about specific animals such as whales, snakes, wolves, bats, butterflies, and more. Children can be enrolled without having been part of Amazing Animals I.

Science Seekers (July 29-August 2) – Through experiments, games, and projects children will explore the physical sciences; such as chemistry, physics, and earth science.

Natural Wonders Pre-school

Help introduce the wonders of the natural world to your child. An experienced educator will lead your youngster through a day of exciting activities, crafts, stories and much more! Children will gain a greater appreciation of nature and wildlife.

Ages: 3-4
Dates: July 8-12     July 22-26     August 12-16     August 26-3
Fee: $130/week for members, $160/week for non-members

New OUTDOOR DISCOVERY AREA to provide children the chance to experiment with music, art and free movement.

Explorers Club

We'll go beyond the borders of Sweetbriar to explore new frontiers. Canoe the Nissequogue, hike the greenbelt trail and explore the forests, wetlands & beaches of Long Island. A camp out with barbecue, campfire, and night hike brings the week to a close.

Ages: 11-14
Dates: July 15-19     August 5-9
Fee: $360/week for members, $400/week for non-members

Wildlife Rehabilitation

Do you love baby animals? Learn how to feed and care for them by a liscenced rehabilitator. Take field trips to other rehabilitation facilities and find out how to become licensed.

Ages: 12-17
Dates:
July 1-5 all about birds             August 12-16 all about mammals
Fee: $360/week for members, $400/week for non-members
